About Rupert's Rambles
Rupert's Rambles is a love letter to Britain's great outdoors - honest feedback from a dog owner who got tired of turning up somewhere beautiful only to find her dog wasn't welcome.
How it started
Hello, and welcome! I'm Lauren, and this is Rupert, our golden retriever and the real reviewer of this blog. Rupert has never met a walk he didn’t like, a puddle he could walk around, or a stick he didn’t want to carry for a mile. He is also a big believer in a muddy walk = a successful walk. Somewhere along the way, we realised we were spending as much time hunting for good dog walks as actually walking them, so we started writing down the ones we loved. That’s what this blog is: honest write-ups of dog-friendly walks around the UK, from Buckinghamshire & Home Counties to Cornwall, Devon and Wales. Everywhere we write about is somewhere we’ve actually been, and we’ll tell you the useful stuff: where to park, how long it takes, whether there’s livestock or a tricky stile, and whether the pub at the end will welcome a wet dog.

What we're about
Every post on this site is written from personal experience. We never recommend somewhere we haven't visited ourselves - with Rupert in tow. If a place gets a five-star rating here, it's because we genuinely loved it.
Always honest
If a pub was unwelcoming or a walk was disappointing, we say so. The whole point is that you can trust what you read here.
Actually visited
Every place we write about is somewhere we have been with Rupert. No aggregating other people's reviews or writing from Google Maps.
Dog first
We review places from a dog's perspective as much as a human one. A beautiful pub that makes your dog sit outside in the rain is not a dog-friendly pub.
